little moments :)

Just a few little highlights from my day today!

1. The ADORABLE 80something-year-old man who stood next to me in the Hallmark aisle for 20 minutes picking out a Valentine's card for his wife. He chuckled, sighed, and toted his oxygen tank back and forth just to be sure that he had the perfect card for his sweetheart. I love LOVE.

2. The other adorable 80something-year-old man who let me cut in front of him in the line at the grocery store because I was a "lady"...I protested, but he insisted. What a tender dove. :)

3. Shelby saying, "I knew a girl who went to Sylvan Learning Center, and she came back stupider...er..more stupid." hahaha love you, Shelby! :)

haters to the left.

This song makes me wish a few things:

  1. That I was black.
  2. That I could sing like her. AMAZING.
  3. That it was socially acceptable to burst out into song in response to certain situations, ie. High School Musical--this song would most definitely be in my arsenal.
It's just a feel good..nay..AWESOME..song. Some people are just going to hate, no matter what you do, or don't do. Let them hate! Sing it, girlfriend...

warning!

I just wanna preface this post with a warning that it will be sappy, personal, and probably won't hold much meaning for you. But, I don't keep a journal, and this is probably the closest thing I have to it--and my heart is so full of gratitude and happiness today that I just have to spill it somewhere. I've always hated that phrase, "heart is full"...super overused. I can't think of another way to describe how I feel though, so deal with it, jack. :)

  • I am grateful for an amazing family who loves me and supports me and who make me laugh harder than anyone else can. Especially my sisters. They are THE funniest people I know. I love my dad and his tender self that buys me tacotime after a long day at work, and my mom who is my gym buddy so I can work off said tacotime.
  • I am grateful for Taylor. He is amazing. He sent me a package for my birthday like a month early with beautiful Pashminas and an Afghani rug, a weird fur hat (haha), and an hysterical belly dancer costume--and 20 ways I make him laugh and 20 things he loves about me in honor of my big 2-0 birthday! He's so thoughtful and sweet. His emails and occasional letters and packages and phone calls are the highlight of my day. I am so lucky to have someone who treats me so well and buoys me up and makes me happy even half a world away. :)
  • I am so grateful for my Savior. I love going to church each Sunday and feeling loved and the peace that comes with knowing that my Heavenly Father loves me and is mindful of my struggles. I never feel alone--even when I'm at my lowest.
  • Along those same lines, I'm grateful that Heavenly Father has taken care of Taylor. Just as I know he's watching over me, I know without a doubt he is watching over him and making sure he's okay. I can't tell you how grateful I am for that and the comfort it has been the past few months.
  • I have such amazing friends. Especially two in particular, Carolyn and Launa--I'd be a mess without them. They are so loyal and such delightful people. love love love them.
  • I am so grateful for my health and for my family's health and safety--after reading stakerzxposed.blogspot.com...I just have so much that I take for granted. Please pray for them, guys.
I just have so much love for so many people right now and thought I'd share it. Thanks for reading it if you did, and I'm sorry if it made you uncomfortable. haha, Just had to write it down!

thuper exthited!

You know how people in Utah (or other places, I've just only ever seen it done in Utah) honk and wave at the Missionaries when they see them walking down the street? That happens to me and the Marines. Today as I was parking at school, I noticed two new Marines walking onto campus to recruit--and I did the stupid huge-grin-suck-in-breath thing and I ALMOST honked my horn and waved. I resisted, however. And then when my friend and I were walking into the Student Center to take our quiz, they started walking right behind us..and it took all the strength I had not to turn around and say hi and tell them I had a Marine in Afghanistan.

....

I'm pathetic and a creep? Maybe. oh WELL.

SEMPER FI.

Pretty in Plaid!

This is Taylor on Christmas Eve. haha I bought these footie pj's for him for Christmas because I think everyone should have a new pair of pj's for Christmas morning no matter where they are! haha this picture makes me laugh so hard! He's such a goofball, and I love it. What's even funnier is that the guy in the background is totally not phased by seeing Tay in footie pj's. haha!
P.S. Those pj's TOTALLY have a butt-flap. hahahhaha.

get a room!

Last night I dreamt that Taylor was home...and then I woke up...and he wasn't. I hate those kinds of dreams. haha seriously..BUMMER! On a happy note, however--less than 5 months! :)

Okay, and also--I've added another pet peeve to my list. PDA's on the city bus. Really, people? I understand you love each other and you want to express your emotions physically..but the bus is NOT the place to do so!! Seriously, I was stuck on a bus for a half an hour with a couple sitting right in front of me who were rubbing their faces in the other's hair, running their fingers through their hair, stroking faces, nuzzling each other's necks, blowing in each other's ears, etc. It was nauseating! Go love one another somewhere else..preferably somewhere private! I'm really not a PDA Nazi or something, i have no problem with couples who want to hold hands, hug, or even kiss--but do it discreetly please! yikes. Am I the only one who feels like this?! Tell me people, please! I need to know I'm not alone.

..oh yeah!

I almost forgot to tell you guys about my Shakespeare Professor--he's a crackpot. We're supposed to be talking about As You Like It, and he seriously asked us a couple of days ago if we thought Satan had a beard? uhhhh....? And today we talked entirely too long about women being "deflowered"...I don't even know. I kind of want to bring earphones because I don't even like the sound of his voice--hopefully I can find something that I like about him before the semester is through.

haha, look at me! I'm just being a negative nancy, aren't I? Sorry! It's just been one of those days. I'm usually a nice/happy person, I swear! Okay, that's all. Sorry there are no pictures..I know a blog without pictures is super boring, but really none apply to this post! haha. thanks for stopping by! :)

best Nativity EVER..

Last night was my Mom's family Christmas party...and to finish off a hilarious night, the little kids put on a Nativity pageant, and it was quite possibly the funniest/best pageant of all time. Don't believe me? BEHOLD.
Mary was dragged in on a giant fluffy Saint Bernard. Baby Jesus was a Native American girl doll, complete with dark long brains and a buckskin dress.

The WiseMAN's (there was only one) gift was a bag of potato chips--which the entire cast ate while the audience sang a stirring rendition of Silent Night. Also..the Shepherd brought a mini spiderman couch to relax on.

Some gems from the night:

"Their names are...Flooffy 1 and...Flooffy 2."-Paige, 3--talking about her stuffed animals. They were ALL named Flooffy.

"Trevor! You don't EAT gifts that you give to other people!"-Amanda--referring to the wiseman gift.

"You're getting chip crumbs all over Baby Jesus!"-Bailey aka Joseph

"hmmmfjf;askdf...look at my butthole."-Anonymous

All and all..a FANTASTIC night. Merry Christmas EVE, everyone! :)
